Position Details: (SN #15e) ServiceNow Subsurface ML Engineer

Location: Remote, Globe
Openings: 1
Salary Range: Depends on expertise

Description:

ServiceNow AI Control Tower | Subsurface Data Intelligence & Predictive ML Engineer

At OIIS, we help technology companies grow faster through effective and well-designed recruitment processes. We operate in a tech talent & RPO model, combining expertise, experience, and a partnership-driven approach to collaboration with both clients and candidates.

ServiceNow AI Control Tower | Subsurface Data Intelligence & Predictive ML | Remote | B2B Contract

We're looking for a principal engineer who merges ServiceNow AI Control Tower platform engineering with subsurface petrotechnical data science and production ML modeling, enabling AI-driven operational intelligence from reservoir to refinery through a unified enterprise service management fabric.

What you'll do:

  • Design the integration framework connecting the OSDU (Open Subsurface Data Universe) platform with ServiceNow AI Control Tower, enabling well lifecycle events and subsurface anomalies to trigger automated service workflows
  • Build and deploy predictive ML models for production optimization (well decline forecasting, gas lift optimization, ESP failure prediction) whose outputs surface as AI Control Tower health signals and automated work orders
  • Develop Now Assist GenAI Studio skills allowing reservoir engineers and production technologists to query subsurface KPIs, well test results, and production forecasts through natural language interfaces in ServiceNow
  • Orchestrate the petrotechnical data lakehouse (Azure Data Lake + Databricks) as the authoritative source feeding AI Control Tower analytics, ensuring OSDU-compliant data governance
  • Create AI Control Tower dashboards unifying upstream production KPIs (field production vs. target, water cut trends, GOR deviations) with IT service health metrics
  • Implement automated production optimization recommendation engines within ServiceNow Flow Designer, routing AI-generated interventions through engineering approval workflows before field execution
  • Govern the MLOps lifecycle: model registry, drift detection, retraining triggers, and A/B testing for all upstream AI models deployed through ServiceNow AI Control Tower

What we're looking for:

  • 10+ years of upstream O&G experience spanning reservoir engineering, production technology, or petrotechnical data management, with 3+ years on ServiceNow
  • Hands-on experience with OSDU Data Platform implementation
  • Proficiency in subsurface simulation or modeling software (Petrel, Eclipse, CMG, tNavigator, or equivalent)
  • Production-grade ML engineering skills: Python (scikit-learn, XGBoost, PyTorch), Kubeflow or MLflow, feature stores
  • Experience with time-series analytics platforms (OSIsoft PI, Seeq, Azure Time Series Insights) in an O&G context
  • ServiceNow AI/Now Assist certification or demonstrable hands-on AI Control Tower implementation experience
  • Master's degree or PhD in Petroleum Engineering, Geophysics, Reservoir Engineering, or Data Science (O&G domain)

Nice to have:

  • Prior upstream digital transformation project experience at a major NOC or IOC
  • Contribution to OSDU Forum working groups or subsurface data standard bodies
  • Experience with carbon capture and emissions monitoring ML models integrated into enterprise service management workflows

What we offer:

  • B2B contract
  • Remote engagement
  • Senior Principal role at a globally significant energy company
