ServiceNow AI Control Tower Consultant | Process Safety & Functional Safety | Remote | B2B Contract

We're looking for an expert consultant who combines ServiceNow AI Control Tower expertise with Functional Safety (IEC 61511) and Process Safety Management, enabling digital governance of safety-critical systems in upstream and downstream hydrocarbon operations.

What you'll do:

• Architect ServiceNow AI Control Tower governance workflows enforcing compliance with IEC 61511 lifecycle stages, from SIL determination through Safety Instrumented System (SIS) validation and revalidation
• Configure AI Control Tower autonomous change management guardrails for safety-critical systems, ensuring no AI-generated change recommendation bypasses SIS modification review protocols
• Develop digital HAZOP/LOPA workflow integrations within ServiceNow GRC, linking Process Hazard Analysis findings to corrective action tracking and AI-monitored remediation closure
• Implement AI-driven Process Safety Event (PSE) classification and Tier-1/2/3 reporting workflows within ServiceNow, feeding real-time AI Control Tower dashboards
• Create ServiceNow-based Management of Change (MOC) workflows for modifications to Safety Instrumented Functions (SIFs), embedding functional safety review gates
• Govern integration between ServiceNow AI Control Tower and SIS management platforms (exSILentia, SERCON, Safety Elements) for automated SIL verification tracking
• Establish AI Control Tower monitoring of Proof Test compliance for SIS devices, generating automated work orders in SAP PM when test intervals approach critical thresholds

What we're looking for:

• 12+ years of process safety or functional safety experience in hydrocarbon processing, LNG, or petrochemicals, with 4+ years on ServiceNow GRC or IRM
• TUV Functional Safety Engineer (FSEng) certification (IEC 61508/61511, mandatory)
• Demonstrated experience conducting or facilitating HAZOP, LOPA, and SIL determination studies using certified software (exSILentia, SAFETI, or PHA-Pro)
• Deep knowledge of OSHA PSM (29 CFR 1910.119) and equivalent regional regulations
• ServiceNow GRC or IRM certification required; AI Control Tower hands-on experience mandatory
• Familiarity with IEC 62061 and ISO 13849 for SIS hardware integrity assessment
• Degree in Chemical, Process, or Instrumentation Engineering; chartered status preferred

Nice to have:

• Experience with Major Accident Hazard (MAH) site regulatory frameworks
• Experience building digital safety cases within enterprise platforms
• Knowledge of Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) tools (PHAST, SAFETI) and their data linkage into ServiceNow
